TOM IS DETERMINED TO LOWER THE COST OF LIVING FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF DISTRICT 42

Tom will work to lower gas and energy prices.

The answer is in wave oscillation that uses our ocean currents to provide all the power we need. This type of energy source leaves no visual blight to contend with. Hawaii is already experimenting with three floating wave energy converters per a contract signed in 2008 with Australia. The World Energy Council estimated that ocean waves, currents, tides, swells and thermal gradients could supply the world’s energy needs more than 5,000 times over. This will be one of Tom’s energy package priorities.

Tom will work to lower the cost of shipping goods.

Repeal ACT 3 (HB2843 Hawaii Session Laws 2008) that changes how fees are impose on cargo containers coming into the state. Previously, fees were based upon the size of the container. Whereas now, charges can be based upon the container’s weight. HB2843 was vetoed by our Governor but overridden during the Special Session that took place on July 8, 2008. This new cargo fee formula will have a negative impact on families already stretched with the burdens of rising prices for food, fuel and rent.
