TOM BERG ADVOCATES FOR GOVERNMENT REFORM
My eleven years of legislative experience at the State Capitol - nine years as the District 42 Office Manager plus two years as the District 42 Administrativve Services Manager – has prepared me for duty to advance these and many other reform measures on day one if elected.
1. Leeward residents shouldn’t be forced out of their cars to cope with traffic when more roads can be built.
SOLUTION: Utilize the $15 billion made available by the Federal government for public-private partnerships to finance the construction of new reversible expressways.

2. Cars powered by 100% hydrogen fuel cell technology to avoid dependency on oil are being marketed elsewhere but not in Hawaii.
SOLUTION: We should diversify our energy base with incentives in statute to ensure alternative fuel source options are available to us and put an end to the monopoly on energy and petroleum in Hawaii.
3. Special interests have prevented Hawaii from being able to remove an estimated 10-20% of the uninsured motorists from our roads.
SOLUTION: Implement computer software system offered by the private sector that has insurance companies notify the Department of Motor Vehicle Registration when a policy is cancelled. Police would enter license data into the system and in seconds know who is on the road illegally.
